Stephen Girouard

Though Stephen Girouard has worked in the motion picture industry thirty plus years, Bit by Bit Productions (Brooklyn NY) was specifically created in 2015 to house his creative endeavors. Sg grew up in the greater Boston area playing a lot of sports.  

 

After earning a BA in Economics from Framingham State University and hanging up the hockey skates, he ventured into social work - with teenagers. But film making was calling and making it's voice heard.

 

Off he went pounding the pavement. Sg acquired work in a Grip/Lighting rental house, and before long, found himself on more and more film sets learning the trades of lighting, grip, and set construction. All the while and on the side, Sg worked on his own creations or at least thought about them - a lot of overthinking if you ask me Sg.

 

While in Boston he wrote, directed, and acted in his first short film A Place to Be. Then came some extensive travel to Europe and Central America shooting slides as well as some 16mm black and white - cinema verite stuff. Eventually, Sg moved to NY enrolling at the Acting Studio; completing their two-year program. 

 

Subsequent to that, this actor landed one of his favorite roles with what became the award-winning short film Freebox by Shandor Garrison. “I loved playing that salt of the earth boat mechanic struggling along”. From there, various little acting gigs came along. Then in 2009 Sg wrote, directed, and acted in The Neighborly; a short film which showed at the 2010 Soho Film Festival NY - a must-see for any fan of The Godfather if I do say so myself.

 

His next writing/directing project was a 20-minute award-winning short film from 2016 Window Dressing. From there another film acting gig followed. Next up; a little bit of music - Three original songs written and recorded by me Sg is available to hear on the Little bit of Music page.
